Should Suspect Heat Exhaustion if
- Victim’s
skin becomes cool, moist, pale or flushed
- Victim
complains of headache, nausea, or dizziness
- Victim
feels weak or exhausted
- Victim
is sweating heavily
What
to Do if You Suspect Heat Exhaustion
- Move
the victim to a cool shaded place
- Loosen
tight clothing, or remove perspiration-soaked clothing
- Apply
cool, wet cloths, or mist the skin with cool water and fan the victim
- If
conscious, give cool water to drink
- If
unconscious send someone to call 911 Emergency Medical Services
You
Should Suspect Heat Stroke if the Victim
- Refuses
water
- Vomits
- Loses
consciousness

to Do if You Suspect Heat Stroke
- Send
someone to call 911 Emergency Medical Services
- Move
the victim to a cool shaded place
- Loosen
tight clothing, or remove perspiration-soaked clothing
- Apply
ice or cold packs
- Wrists
- Ankles
- Groin
- Neck
- Armpits
- cool,
wet cloths, or mist the skin with cool water and fan the victim
- Continue
to care for Airway, Breathing, and Circulation while awaiting the arrival
of Emergency Medical Services
