When a victim is not breathing and has no heartbeat...

·        If, when you check for a pulse by placing two fingers on the Carotid Artery, in a groove alongside the Adam’s Apple in the neck, you find there is no heartbeat…

·        Place the heel of one hand on the Sternum Bone, in the center of the chest between the nipples, lock your elbows so your arms are straight, position your shoulders directly above your hands, and use your weight to compress the chest downwards about 2 inches.

·        Do this 15 times, and then give 2 more rescue breaths.

·        Stop after about one minute of care and recheck for signs of circulation, and every few minutes after that

o       If there is no heartbeat, continue giving 15 chest compressions and 2 breaths until:

·        the scene becomes unsafe,

·        help arrives,

·        or you are too exhausted to continue.
