Throughout care, the victim must be able to take air into the lungs clearly...

·        Airway: The pathway used by air traveling between the nose/mouth, and the lungs

·        Tongue: Rooted at the back of the jawbone, and relaxed during unconsciousness, can position itself in the way of air getting to the lungs.

·        Two methods for clearing the airway: the JAW THRUST Maneuver, and the HEAD TILT/CHIN LIFT Maneuver.
